27 miscreants bag five-month imprisonment over breach of peace

Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has secured the conviction of 27 miscreants over offences bordering on breach of peace and unlawful conversion of government property. 
 
They were sentenced to five months imprisonment by Chief Magistrate S.A. Adefioye, who convicted them on a two-count charge of conducting themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace, and unlawful conversion for use of government property by occupation.
 
The said offences are punishable under Section 168(1)(d) and Section 348(1) of the Criminals Laws of Lagos State 2015.
    


Corps Marshal, Major Olatunbosun Olaniyi Cole (rtd), said the prosecution is testament to the resolve to entrench pedestrians’ safety across major highways in Lagos.
 
He said the enforcement exercise took place in the PWD, Bolade, Oshodi, and Ladipo pedestrian bridges, and resulted in the arrest of Tobiloba Adeyemi, Imoh Nelson, Biodun Mojeed, Abdul Rahamon Habibi, Tejumola Ojo, Rasheed Yekeen, Oluranti Alaba, Alabi Ayobami, Richard Osamimo, Iwu Chukwuma, Justice Okaro, Abubakar Ibrahim, Ade Daniel, Bidemi Gbotolohun, Oluwaseun Samuel, Nkpoma Kelechi, Okonkwo Ikechukwu, Onesemo Makelu, Eze Emeka, Wale Albert, Ibrahim Oyiza, Imole Adedokun, Ali Adam, Uzepa Sani, Abdulhakeem Abdulrasheed, Shefiu Nasiru, and Usman Adamu.

Head, Public Affairs and Advocacy Unit, Ajayi Lukman, said Cole is dedicated to a Lagos where there will be no hiding place for miscreants fond of dispossessing pedestrians of their valuables.
