It was learnt that the gunmen also attacked Igwe Patrick Eze, also known as Igwe Waziri, at Orba, in Udenu Local Council of the state. Waziri is the traditional ruler of Egali Amalla community in Udenu Local Council.

Igwe Waziri escaped unhurt.

Recall that Enugu State governor, Peter Mbah, had placed a N10 million bounty on gunmen who killed two policemen on Friday within Enugu metropolis.

The police officers were killed while manning a checkpoint along Presidential Road, Enugu.

The governor had, after a meeting with security chiefs at the weekend, accused members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) of carrying out the attack.

Saturday’s killing brought to seven, the number of police officers killed in the state within the week. Earlier, two police officers were killed at Nimbo community in Uzo Uwani council.

As at press time, spokesperson for the state’s police command, Daniel Ndukwe, was yet to speak on the matter. He had not picked his calls or responded to text messages.
