Amid fanfare, Yusuf ushers Kano into 2024, pledges devt

Malam Abba Yusuf

Amid pomp and ceremony, Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, ushered hundreds of residents into the New Year with a pledge to rededicate his administration’s commitment towards social, youth and women development in the New Year.

Yusuf, in the company of his deputy, Aminu Gwarzo, and top government functionaries led a mammoth crowd of loyalists to cross into the New Year at the popular Mahaha Sport complex.

Leading the residents to bid farewell to 2023, the governor said last year was significant in the history of Kano politics, when people voted en masse for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to pilot the affairs of the state.

Using the occasion to acknowledge the support and contribution of the youth and women during the last election, Yusuf said his administration would remain grateful to them for standing firm to defend the mandate given to the NNPP government.

He said his administration “is keen in enhancing growth with a renewed commitment that 2024 is packed with massive physical and human development projects that have direct bearing on the lives of Kano people.”

On the much-expected verdict of the Supreme Court on his electoral mandate being challenged by the opposition party, Yusuf urged his loyalists to remain calm and optimistic of victory at the court.

According to the governor, NNPP believes the justices of the Supreme Court and the judiciary will do what is just in delivering judgment on the Kano governorship poll.
