Argentina 0-2 Nigeria: Flying Eagles through to U-20 World Cup quarter-finals

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria late Wednesday night made it through to the quarter-finals of the Under-20 World Cup after defeating hosts, Argentina by two unreplied goals.

The team’s manager, Ladan Bosso had promised to defeat the Argentines as he said he knew what tactics to deploy and he eventually rewrote history by sending the hosts out of the tournament.

Following a goalless first half, Ibrahim Beji Muhammad put the Flying Eagles 1-0 ahead in the 61st minute of the second-round encounter against the Javier Mascherano-led Argies.

In the first minute of second-half added time, Rilwanu Sarki who had replaced Jude Sunday in the 57th minute of the game scored the decisive goal, putting Nigeria 2-0 ahead.

Sarki’s flying header came courtesy of a lovely assist from fellow substitute and AC Milan midfielder, Victor Eluwa Eletu who had come on for scorer, Muhammad in the 79th minute.
