Tragedy struck again in Kaduna as a soldier was reportedly killed by terrorists in Zangon Kataf, while his stepmother was abducted.

The attack by the bandits threw the community into panic and confusion.

The soldier who was identified as Yahaya Ayuba (Zabuyia) was said to have been killed by the bandits, just as his stepmother was abducted at Anguwan Rimi village in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A family member, Kantiok Solomon, confirmed the sad incident to Journalists on Monday.

According to him, the soldier arrived from Lagos on Sunday evening, and the gunmen entered the house while he (the soldier) was having a discussion with his family members at the palace.

“The incident happened last Sunday, at around 11:pm, when the bandits wielding AK-47 rifles invaded the house to abduct the stepmother, but the soldier resisted,” Solomon said.

“Meanwhile, the gunmen notice his uniform hanging on the cushion and resort to gunning him down without hesitation.”

Another resident, Angelo Tagwai, who also confirmed the incident, said the incident has thrown the community into confusion, saying this is the third time such carnage has happened in the community.

He said: “We’re calling on the security operatives to immediately swing into action to rescue the stepmother and ensure the perpetrators of this act are arrested and prosecuted.”

Meanwhile, the Kaduna Police Command has not reacted to the incident as phone calls put across to the spokesperson of the Police, ASP Mansir Hassan, by the Guardian were not answered.
