Buhari, minister commiserate with Abubakar over sister’s demise

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with former Head of State, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar over the passing of his sister, Salamatu Asabe, at the weekend.

In a condolence message signed by his media aide, Garba Shehu, the immediate past President said he and his family were “deeply saddened by the passing of the General’s sister.

It added: “But we are grateful to Almighty Allah for what she was to her family and her community, where she assisted the needy.


“We pray for the repose of her soul and fortitude to the Abubakar family to bear the loss.”

ALSO, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Aliyu Abdullahi, commiserated with Abubakar over the loss.

In his condolence message addressed to the former Head of State, yesterday, the Baraden Borgu, who described the death as a loss to all who knew the deceased, said those who came across her in her lifetime were enamoured by her humility, grace and motherly disposition.

He prayed to God to comfort the General and his family, and grant the deceased eternal rest.

The letter reads: “It is with shock and immense sadness that I received news of the passing of your beloved younger sister, Salamatu Asabe. Her passing is not just a loss to the nuclear family, but to those who knew her and admired her humane qualities.

“In this moment of grief, my family and I offer our heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, and other members of the Abubakar family, immediate and extended.

I pray to Almighty Allah to comfort you, and grant her Aljannah Firdaus.”
