Cattle rustlers, vigilance group kill 19 in Zamfara

gunmen suspected to be cattle rustlers on Friday morning invaded Farar Kasa village, Dankurmi ward, Maru local council of Zamfara State, killing not less than 13 people.

Also, members of vigilante group in the area have killed six Fulani herdsmen as reprisal attack to earlier invasion of the community by suspected cattle rustlers.

A source in the community who spoke with The Guardian at the weekend in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, said the incident occurred on Thursday evening when some gunmen stormed the village with sophisticated weapons and started killing residents of the community.

The source further said because of this, members of the vigilante group in the area on Friday matched to the community market and started slaughtering and killing cattle rustlers (Fulani) found in the market.

All efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sanusi Amiru, proved abortive as his phone lines could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
