Corps member launches water project in Lagos community

A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Chinedu Hilary Azubuike, with state code LA/23B/4324, has launched a borehole water project in Idimu community, Alimosho Local Council of Lagos State.

This initiative, carried out as his personal Community Development Service (CDS) project, was endorsed by the Haske WaterAid and Empowerment Foundation and supported by NYSC, alongside local leaders and community members.

The project aimed to provide access to potable drinking water for the residents, thereby improving their well-being.

It involved drilling a borehole, installing a pump and distribution system, and implementing proper sanitation measures.

This infrastructure addresses longstanding water scarcity in Idimu.

Azubuike expressed commitment to improving the standards of living in Lagos communities.

He said: “This project goes beyond drilling a borehole. It’s about fostering hope for a healthier future. Access to clean water is a basic human right, and I’m honored to help make this a reality for the people of Idimu. ”

Besides the project, Azubuike also held a Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme, which equipped young people with skills and knowledge for socio-economic development.

The programme particularly benefited students at the Idimu Community School.

Also, his public enlightenment campaign aimed to increase awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promote economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection.

The community leader and Olisa of Idimu, Wasiu Aminu, expressed appreciation, saying: “This project is a blessing to our community. We are immensely grateful to Azubuike and everyone involved. Access to clean water and improved hygiene will greatly enhance our health and overall well-being.”

A member of the community, Samuel Avukeh, said: “Water is life, and Chinedu has brought life to us. The NYSC programme encourages young graduates to engage in national development through various community service projects.

“Azubuike’s project is an outstanding example of what can be achieved through dedication, innovation, and community collaboration.”
