The governor, who spoke, in Yola, yesterday, at an event organised by Rule of Law and Anti-corruption (RoLAC), said his administration has zero tolerance for corruption.
Fintiri, who was represented by Commissioner for Justice, Afraimu Jingi, said to ensure that corruption is stamped out of government operations, every ministry and parastatal should have an anti-corruption unit to monitor the activities of officials.
He commended RoLAC, which is funded by the European Union and British Council, for the good work it is doing in the state and appealed to managers of the organisation to step up efforts towards boosting the rule of law in Adamawa.
He said: “The Child Rights Law is one of the achievements of RoLAC in Adamawa. The organisation sponsored many laws in the state that have direct bearing on humanity.”
In his welcome remarks, the Programme Manager, Danladi Plang, said RoLAC’s main objective is reforming the criminal justice system and ensuring women, children and people with disabilities have access to justice.
He said: “The five-year programme, which started from 2017 to 2022, is funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council. We work at the federal level and in five states – Adamawa, Anambra, Edo, Kano and Logos.”
The Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo, who was represented by the immediate past Chief Judge of the State, Justice Nathan Musa, said no country can move forward without the rule of law and urged RoLAC to continue its fight against corruption.
He assured that he would mobilise traditional institutions in the state to support the fight against corruption and entrenchment of the rule of law.
