Court remands suspect over killing of village head in Niger

Justice Aisha Wodu of the High Court sitting in Suleja has ordered for remand of Musa Ibrahim also known as Na- Allah Dagba standing trial for alleged involvement in the killing of the village head of Lambata in Gurara local council of Niger State, Late Mohammed Abdulsafur.

The suspect was in court following an order of the judge after he was granted bail by a high court sitting in Minna with the name Ibrahim Musa.

Justice Aisha had ordered that the suspect be produced by the surety who stood for him to face his charges, as he is identified in the murder of the village head of lambata as Na- Allah Dagba.

The suspect had pleaded not guilty to the charges of culpable homicide and joint act contrary to sections 221 8 and 79 of the penal code read against him.


Meanwhile, the judge had granted bail to Basiru Mohammed accused number 28 in the matter for 4 million naira and a surety who is not less than a Director in the civil service with a landed property with C of O within the court’s jurisdiction.

Justice Aisha Wodu has adjourned the matter to June 10 and 11 for the commencement of the hearing of witnesses following an application by the prosecuting state counsel Umar Hamidu that they intend to file amended charges as some of the accused are still at large.

He also informed the court that accused were not in court as they were said to have been transferred to Kuje Custodial Center following the escape of some inmates in Suleja custodial center after the collapsed of some part of the custodial center.
