Everton has no interest in Ndidi, insider claims

Everton does not hold an interest in signing Leicester City and Nigeria star, Wilfred Ndidi, this summer, according to Chris Beesley.

The Liverpool Echo journalist reported yesterday that despite suggestions, the Toffees were closing in on a deal for the out-of-contract midfielder, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Ndidi’s future at the King Power Stadium has been the subject of plenty of speculation this season, but sources at Goodison Park have previously insisted that they have no interest in the Foxes gem.

Writing for the Liverpool Echo, Beesley said: “Curious to see reports elsewhere claiming that Everton are closing in on a transfer for Wilfred Ndidi.

“Back in May when the rumours first surfaced, I took a look at what the Nigerian international could potentially offer the Blues. However, when I asked specifically about the Leicester City man earlier this month, I was told there was no interest.”

Everton may not have loads of money to spend this summer, but that hasn’t stopped the Toffees being linked with several potential new signings as they prepare to kick on under Sean Dyche next term.

On the face of it, Ndidi would be an excellent addition to the Blues’ midfield as he would add some more Premier League experience and a different profile in the middle of the pack, without costing an excessive transfer fee.

However, it doesn’t seem likely that this deal will be completed before the start of next term. With Tim Iroegbunam already arriving on Merseyside, Dyche has already bolstered his midfield.

Unless Amadou Onana moves on, it may no longer be a priority.  Hopefully, one or two more incomings will be confirmed sooner rather than later so that the Blues boss can get to work in pre-season with a fully fit squad, but it doesn’t seem likely that Ndidi will be one of those additions, he said.

In other Everton news, Manchester United are exploring a legal method to sign a Jarrad Braithwaite alternative this summer.
