Billed for young men and women between ages 20 and 35 across Nigeria, the programme is for persons passionate about film and television production.

Over the next three years, some 300,000 young Nigerians are to be trained under the initiative.

A statement by film director Kunle Afolayan indicated that registration, which is online, begins from today, March 15.

He explained that the selection process would take into consideration a gender balance ratio to allow for adequate participation of women.

Afolayan noted that 40 per cent of the lucky candidates would be young women and men from low-income backgrounds.

The first set of beneficiaries, he added, is to be trained next month.

His words: “The academy is focused on growing the next generation of skilled filmmakers through the tutelage of veterans and film professionals who provide hands-on experience in diverse aspects of filmmaking to enrolled students.”
