A waste recycling company, Freee Recycle has reiterated its commitment to promote environmental sustainability, by reducing waste from landfills and environmental footprint.

Speaking at the launch of the innovative eco-friendly Flip Flops made from recycled tyres, the Managing Director, Mrs Ifedolapo Runsewe, stated that the firm has continued to promote green solutions by converting recycled waste tires into innovative and high-quality products.

The company, she noted, has not only contributed to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 12 but also promoted responsible consumption, production and drove economic growth in Nigeria. It has recycled over 250,000 tires, which has resulted in curbing over 1000 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and reduction of malaria mortality.

“Our commitment to sustainability goes hand in hand with our dedication to fostering economic growth and prosperity in Nigeria. Today marks a significant milestone in our journey with the new, Freee flip flops that offer exceptional quality. We are making a statement of our wavering dedication to environmental responsibility.

Special Adviser on Climate Change and Circular Economy to the Lagos governor, Titilope Oshodi, said that the government is driving the ideals of a circular economy as an approach to combat climate change over four to five years to achieve its zero carbon emissions goals by 2050.

“If we’re able to strategise and use that complexity within the market, we can achieve a 10 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emission, while ensuring that we establish 10,000 indirect jobs over five years, and we do it in about 50,000,” she said.

The Managing Director, Sage Grey Finance Limited, Temitope Runsewe, who spoke on their partnership with Freee, said the firm is an innovative, and impact-driven business. “We always insist on not just commercial returns but also getting social environmental returns,” he said.
