Hoodlums attack police cells, free detainees in Rivers 

Hoodlums, early hours of Tuesday, allegedly broke into police cells and freed all detainees in the Okrika council of the state.

A source at the station said the incident had been reported to the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, as well as the state Police Command, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

The police said: “The hoodlums broke the padlock of the cell and also opened the backdoor of the cell where inmates escaped from around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday.”

DSP Grace Iringi-Koko, Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Friday Eboka, has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter while the officers are detained in the State Criminal and Investigation Department (SCID).
