The late Eze Edmond Alisiobi Dim.

The House of Representatives expressed sorrow on Tuesday following the passing of His Royal Majesty Eze Edmond Alisiobi Dim, the Obi of Obodoukwu in Imo State’s Ideato North LGA.

The death of the traditional ruler, described as a national loss, was announced by Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, representing Ideato North/South Federal Constituency.

Hon. Ugochinyere informed the House that the 10th Obi of Obodoukwu Kingdom passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28th, 2024, at the age of 82. He highlighted the late monarch’s education at St. Peters School, Akokwa, and his career journey spanning various companies, including the Daily Times Newspaper and Bolingo Hotels.

Eze Dim ascended the Obodoukwu throne in 1990 and was revered for his leadership and contributions to the community.

Hon. Ugochinyere requested the House to observe a minute of silence in honor of the late king, following traditional burial rites.

Presiding over the plenary session, Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu honoured the request, leading the House in a one-minute silence to pay their respects to the departed traditional ruler.

This gesture reflected the House’s recognition of the significant role Eze Dim played in his community and the wider society.
