Immigration not selling recruitment slots, says Babandede

Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, has admonished Nigerians to be wary of officials allegedly selling recruitment slots to people.

He urged them to report such officials to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), stressing that no Nigerian should pay cash to any immigration officer to acquire international passport.

He also said Nigerians should make payments and register online to acquire or renew their international passports. Babandede insisted that the NIS was not recruiting presently and described the website www.immigration.com where a fraudster had been using his pictures and that of the Minister of Interior to swindle people as fake.

He pointed out that NIS official website remained www.immigration.gov.ng, saying any recruitment exercise by the command would be published on the official website and in national dallies.
