The Nigerian Immigration high command has raised the alarm over fake employment letters circulating around the country.
The service has warned that it will prosecute anyone found involved in this fake job racket.
Spokesman of the Immigration Service, Udo Kenneth, a Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, in a statement on Thursday, said their job vacancies are advertised in recognised national dailies before employment is processed.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to notify the public of the circulation of fake employment letters purportedly issued by the NIS. These fraudulent letters falsely claim that the recipients have been offered employment with the NIS.
“The Service categorically denies any involvement in this fraudulent scheme and refutes the misinformation being spread on social media platforms regarding an ongoing recruitment/replacement exercise.
“The NIS shall continue to ensure that any unscrupulous elements engaging in this criminality will be made to face the wrath of the law. The public is hereby advised to report these scammers to the nearest NIS office or law enforcement agencies.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment exercises are exclusively advertised through reputable national dailies, television broadcasts, and our official website, www.immigration.gov.ng.
