Imo council chairman confirms beheading of 65 -year-old by unknown assailants

The Chairman of Njaba Local Council of Imo State, Emeka Iheanacho, has confirmed the beheading of a 65-year-old indigene of Eziuba, Ubudom, Nnoruoka. The late Onyeokwu, was said to have been abducted from his house at the weekend by unknown assailants and later dumped without his head in the State Primary School, Ubudom, Atta, in Njaba Council of the state.

Meanwhile, the people of the area are in palpable fear as a result while some indigenes have deserted the community for fear.

Iheanacho, who said the incident was pathetic, regretting that they could not unravel the killers of the deceased.

The Guardian gathered that the victim was a taciturn until his death.

When contacted, the Police spokesperson in the state, Michael Abattam, said he was going to issue a statement on Monday, but he could neither call The Guardian nor issue any statement until press time.

Three monarchs had been killed within few months in the area. While two were shot dead in a meeting at the council headquarters, another was abducted from his palace at night and his body was found next morning at a public square in the community.

There were incidences of attack on the police station in the area by unknown hoodlums.
