The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has commended the appointment of its executive Vice President, Wahid Oshodi, by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) as the chairman of its Ethics and Good Governance Commission.

Oshodi, who is an ITTF executive committee member in charge of Communications & Protocol, Governance, and World Ranking, received notice of his appointment through a letter signed by NOC President, Habu Gumel.

“It is my pleasure to inform you that the executive board of the Nigeria Olympic Committee has approved your appointment as the chairman of the Ethics and Good Governance Commission.

“Your appointment is in recognition of your wealth of experience and outstanding contribution to Nigerian sports, as well as the Olympic Movement.

“It is, therefore, hoped that you will bring to bear your expertise and experience in achieving the goals of your commission and the NOC in general,” Gumel said.

While congratulating Oshodi on the appointment, ITTF, through its president, Petra Sorling, acknowledged the immense contribution of the former president of the Nigerian Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) to ITTF since he joined the body in 2021.

“Certainly, this appointment comes to recognise your wealth of experience and outstanding contribution to Nigerian sports and the international table tennis community. This also reaffirms the decision we took in early 2022 to assign you with the governance portfolio within the ITTF executive board,” ITTF said in a statement signed by Sorling.

Reacting to the commendation, Oshodi, who is also the Deputy President of ITTF Africa, described the appointment as an avenue for more work and responsibilities.

Also among the top sports personalities given new roles by the NOC, is a member of the ITTF Board of Directors (BoD), Olabanji Oladapo, a former secretary general of NOC, who was appointed as the Chairman, Liaison Commission.
