Jonathan, Mbah mourn ex-senate spokesperson, Ayogu Eze

Senator Ayogu Eze

Former President, Dr. Goodkuck Ebele Jonathan, and Governor Peter Mbah have commiserated with the Eze family as well as his professional colleagues in the media and political sphere on the demise of Senator Ayogu Eze.

Jonathan and Mbah, in their condolence messages to the deceased family, described the late politician as a patriot, who dedicated his life promoting democratic values of unity, justice, peace and progress.

While the former president said Senator Eze will be missed by many outside his immediate family, as his career was defined by hard work, honesty and impactful service, Mbah expressed deep grief over the death of member representing Enugu State on the Board of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

Jonathan prayed that God would comfort the Ezes for the irreparable loss and encouraged them to take solace in the worthy legacy of Senator Eze.

The statement reads: “I condole with the Eze family on the passing of Senator Ayogu Eze, foremost journalist and two-time senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Senator Eze was a patriot who dedicated his life promoting democratic values of unity, justice, peace and progress. His career was defined by hard work, honesty and impactful service.

“Senator Eze had a sterling career in journalism and politics serving in different capacities at the state and national level.

Mbah expressed his grief in a statement he personally signed on Friday, saying that the state would stand by Ayogu’s family in this time of grief and prayed God to grant the deceased’s soul eternal rest.

“Senator Ayogu was a thoroughbred media professional, entrepreneur, community leader, and nation-builder, who served Enugu State in several capacities, including as a Commissioner, before proceeding to the centre where he served as a two-term senator and on the Boards of the Nigerian Ports Authority and the RMAFC.

“His services to the people of Enugu State and the nation will be sorely missed, especially at a time the nation is in need of experienced hands like him. We stand with members of the Ayogu Eze family in this time of grief and pray God to grant them the fortitude to bear the grievous loss.”
