Kano: Ganduje’s invitation to Kwankwaso, gov unnecessary – Shekarau

Group slams Galadima over comment on APC boss

Former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, has described the invitation by the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, to Governor Abba Yusuf and presidential candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to join the APC as an unnecessary move.

Shekarau, a two-term governor of the state and former minister of education, made this known in a video message. Ganduje, the immediate past governor of Kano, was in Kano for the APC stakeholders’ meeting, last week, when he extended hand of fellowship to Yusuf and other members NNPP to join the APC.

Reacting to the invitation, Shekarau said: “My brother, Ganduje, came to Kano and invited the governor, Kwankwaso and others to come and gather in APC. For me, that is not necessary. What he should have done was to call on the people of Kano to stay peaceful, regardless of who is leading, since the case is over.”

“Whether you insult them or not, whether they know how to do it or not, they are the ones in power. Whatever it is, it will come to pass. Eight years is just like tomorrow. I have done eight years and added 12 to 13 years ahead. Wherever we are, if we do not see or feel justice will be served on us, we leave. That is the basis of leadership or association.”

MEANWHILE, the Public Enlightenment Unit Office of the APC National Chairman has expressed great concern over the recent comments credited to NNPP chieftain, Buba Galadima.

Galadima, during a television interview, accused Ganduje of harbouring hatred for Kano people. He was speaking against the backdrop of the recent Supreme Court judgment on the Kano governorship election.

Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment t0 APC National Chairman, Oliver Okpala, stated, yesterday: “Galadima’s comments sought to force a wrong narrative and interpretation of Ganduje’s stance as far as Kano politics is concerned. It is true that, over the years, Galadima had been following the path of controversy, and throughout his political career, he always viewed things and responding to issues with mischievous and negative perspectives.

“But I thought, by now he would have grown up. But I was wrong. My advice is that, at his age and level in politics, he should, like other statesmen, be preaching peace, love and unity to reign in the country’s political space.”
