Lagos moves to align staff skills with objectives

The Lagos State government has said that it remains committed to aligning staff skills with the objectives of providing quality service to residents and the THEMES agenda of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration through training and retraining.

THEMES is the acronym for Traffic Management and Transportation, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, an initiative that aims at making Lagos a 21st Century economy, entertainment, tourism, governance and security hub.


The Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Ajibola Ponle, said this at the just-concluded five-day leadership training programme for heads of agencies and parastatal in the state’s public service.

Sixty officers were drawn from the health sector comprising of the Health Service Commission, Public Health Board, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), and the Ministry of Health were in attendance.


According to her, the Office of Establishments and Training has lined up a series of training to equip and re-equip the staff to have competencies in drawing up matrices to measure performance and achievement. 

“The essence of the training is to equip officers with the skills to prepare and measure indicators that would be used within the organisation to measure performance and achievements of set goals.

The training, which represents the second phase in the performance-enhancing strategy, has as its theme, “Design and Implementation of Key Performance Indicator Framework for the Public Service,” and is expected to cover all units within the state public service.
