London-to-Lagos Solo Driver Pelumi Nubi Arrives in Lagos


A 28-year-old Nigerian-British travel content creator Pelumi Nubi, who journeyed from London to Lagos, has arrived Lagos to an enthralling reception.


The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, announced the news via his “X” account on Sunday.

“Lagos State Government gives a hero’s welcome to @peluminubi, a Nigeria-British citizen who did a solo drive from London to Lagos.

Pelumi was received at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border on behalf of Lagos State Government officials.


Pelumi Nubi embarked on her journey on January, 31 2024. She announced in an Instagram post highlighting her prospective challenges and reasons for embarking.

”Honestly, I just wanted to show that this kind of travel was very possible for someone who looks like me and really inspires the next generation of travellers to step out of their comfort zone and do incredible things.”

“Each time I try to imagine it (driving into Lagos), I get goosebumps because it’s just been such a tremendous journey, you know, showing people the parts and all of that, and then to get to this finale, and I hear it’s a homecoming like people have rallied up.” she said.

The daring creator was involved in a car crash, with a short video she posted on social media revealing the extent of the wreckage.

“Grateful for all prayers and well wishes during this challenging time. I am safe and recovering, thanks to your support and kindness, your prayers mean the world to me, despote this setback i habe neber being more determined, to continue this journey. Thank you” she posted.
