• Cautions those politicising insecurity
• Group flays Osinbajo over failed Iseyin-Oyo road

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged National and State Assembly members to join the call for state police irrespective of their political affiliations.

Makinde, who gave the charge at the weekend, said the introduction of state police would help in routing insecurity in the states and across the country.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted Makinde as saying that concerted efforts are needed to tackle the challenges of insecurity bedevelling the country.

Makinde stated this while speaking at the 30th anniversary of Ibadan Golf Club held at the World Lilies Event Centre, Queens School Road, Apata, Ibadan, on Saturday.

Besides, he urged those politicising insecurity to have a rethink, saying insecurity does not know political parties or religions.

He, therefore, enjoined the legislative arm of government both at the federal and state levels, to push for it in their chambers.

The governor, who congratulated members of the Ibadan Golf Club on the 30th anniversary, pledged that he would continue to support the club and also do more in terms of giving necessary support for sports development in Oyo State.

He said that the remodelled and reconstructed Lekan Salami Sport Complex would be opened with the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) playing a European Team from Slovakia.

In another development, a group in Oke-Ogun, Oyo State, Ebedi Frontliners, Iseyin (EFI), has flayed the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, over his failed promise on the reconstruction of Iseyin-Oyo Road during the 2019 electioneering campaign in the state.

The group said it was sad that the Federal Government, to whom the road belonged, had long abandoned it among other federal facilities in Oke-Ogun region.

It, however, lauded Makinde for approving the reconstruction of the same long-abandoned Iseyin-Oyo road.

The group gave the commendation after an emergency meeting held at the Aseyin Palace in Iseyin at the weekend.

“Our people in Iseyin never forget one good turn. We are grateful to Governor Seyi Makinde and will surely pay him back at the appropriate time.

“We remember that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was here during the 2019 election campaign and it is on record that he promised that the Federal Government would immediately start the reconstruction of Iseyin-Oyo road, but till now, we did not see any sign of such, thank God for this governor,” it said.

The group lauded the efforts of the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Dr. Abdganiy Salaudeen Adekunle Oloogunebi, Ajinese I, in forestalling insecurity in the community and its environs.

It pledged loyalty to the monarch and urged concerted actions to take the ancient town to the desired height.
