Man dies in Lagos beer parlour, police arrest two for vandalism

A man said to be in his 50s has reportedly died at a bar located along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.The owner of the bar reported at Elere Police Division on May 15, that at about 6:16 p.m., the same day, a male customer whose name and address remained unknown, came into the bar to watch television. The man was later seen sleeping on a chair. However, after attempting to wake him up, it was discovered that he was lifeless.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said the body was moved to the mortuary at Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, for autopsy, and that effort to trace his family was in progress. He added that when detectives visited the scene, they found no mark of violence on the deceased.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested 21-year-old Olashile Obikoya and 20-year-old Victor Adebanjo at Lopez Close, Awoshika Agbaoku Estate for being in possession of electrical wires suspected to have been vandalised from a building.

Hundeyin said after receiving calls from residents of the area, the anti-crime patrol of the Ikeja division swung into action and arrested the suspects. He said the two are currently in police custody for further investigation.
