Niger State has witnessed unprecedented development and transformation thanks to the strategic leadership of farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago. The ambitious vision of a “NEW NIGER” is rapidly taking shape, driven by critical and strategic sectoral commitments and the dedicated efforts of the state’s Machinery and Development Agencies (MDAs).

One of the flagships of this vision is the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Projects (RAAMP), led by Dr. Ambassador Nmaa Ahmed. RAAMP has been pivotal in enhancing access to rural communities, a critical element of Governor Bago’s agenda. The completion of Makera and Jankara roads, which connect the state’s three political zones and link Bosso to Gbako via Malagi village, extending further to Wushishi local governments, illustrates this effort. This infrastructure will benefit approximately 50 villages, improving connectivity and fostering economic growth.

In Katcha Local Government Area, the RAAMP management team has mobilized contractors to resume maintenance of the Ebba-Kataeregi and Ebba-Baddegi feeder roads. These roads, once completed, will directly link to Minna-Bida Road via Kataeregi Community. The improved roads will facilitate the movement of goods and services, particularly agricultural produce, to markets in Minna, Bida, and beyond, thus reducing transportation costs that previously hinged on poor road networks.

The immediate beneficiaries of these developments are residents of the following communities:
– Kangi Toga
– Kangi Maba
– Kpanti Tifin
– Kpanti Kota
– Kafa Tako
– Sakiwa
– Lankokpangi
– Katako
– Gbagbaruku
– Bakondare
– Kafa
– Kusogi
– Guya
– Ebba
– Yankpako
– Shedagba
– Ginda Gaskiya
– Elegi Cheche
– Esheti
– Kataeregi

Additionally, people from Zuzungi, Kambari, Dadi, Koto, Cheche, Nagenu, Etsusidi, Emirafi, Ganabigi, Sheshidama, Kansanagi, Taka, Mudagi, Langba, Kuchitagi, Edikuso, Mayaki, and Nagya communities can now easily navigate these routes for commerce, particularly in tubers and grains.

Under Governor Umar Mohammed Bago’s leadership, Niger State has seen a transformation in just one year. His pragmatic approach to infrastructural development and implementation of the RAAMP project has revitalized the economy and enhanced the quality of life across the state’s three senatorial zones. This has led to a remarkable increase in farming activities, a significant reduction in insecurity, and pioneered the President Tinubu’s Food Security Agenda.

Amb. Nmaa said the once underutilized vast arable land is now bustling with productivity, catering to local, national, and international markets. As we celebrate this milestone, it is evident that through teamwork and unwavering commitment, a brighter, more prosperous future is on the horizon for all citizens of New Niger.

In celebrating Governor Bago’s first anniversary, the Director general Amb. Nmaa said the impact of his leadership stands as a testament to integrity, vision, and dedication, laying a robust foundation for continued growth and prosperity.
