Niger restates commitment to payment of WAEC/NECO examination fees for students

abubakar-sani-bello1Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has assured that his administration will sustain the payment of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination fees and that of National Examination Council (NECO) for students in the state, which was introduced by the immediate past administration.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, in Minna, at the weekend, the governor directed principals of public schools to be conscious of the fact that the, “Government policy on NECO/WAEC stands and should be adhered to. School principals and parents should take note.”

Shedding light on reasons behind sustaining the policy, the statement said, “In fulfillment of his promise to restore the standard of education at the basic level, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, has directed that status-quo on government policy on payment of examination fee for SSSCE should be maintained.”

The statement further directed school Principals that they are only permitted to collect fee for only one of the two examinations while government will pay for the other.

“The governor has directed strict adherence by school principals to the ‎policy. Any principal that flouts the directive will be dealt with. Parents are to report any principal that may want to force them to pay for the two examinations,” the statement added.
