Troops belonging to the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, have announced their breakthrough over extremists and insurgents in Taraba State.


Making the announcement, yesterday, via the Army X handle ( formerly Twitter), the brigade said it had engaged in a fierce confrontation with violent extremists and insurgents in the state.

The battle, which they said occurred in Bali Local Council of the state, was said to have led to the neutraliisation of extremists and insurgents in the council.


Part of the Army tweets read: “Acting on actionable intelligence regarding the presence of armed groups in Nayinaya, Garin Daniel, and Garbatau areas of Bali Local Council, the troops swiftly launched a proactive combat patrol to confront the extremists head-on.

Upon encountering the armed groups, the troops effectively utilised their superior firepower, resulting in the elimination of two extremists.”

Weapons said to have been recovered from them included Two AK-47 Rifles, Four AK-47 Magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62 MM Special Ammunition.

This operation, according to the tweet, underscores the Brigade’s resolute commitment to maintaining peace and security inTaraba and its surroundings.


The brigade assured that the troops of the brigade would remain steadfast in their commitment to rooting out all criminal elements from the state until total peace and security is restored to the general area.

Elated by the development, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier Kingsland Uwa, praised the troops for their swift response and urged the public to continue providing timely information to facilitate the complete eradication of criminal activities in the area.

The achievement came barely two days after an attack was launched on 18-seater bus that was conveying passengers from a nearby Benue State to Bali Local Council in Taraba.
