In its continuous drive to build human capital capacity across all sectors of the nation’s economy, the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) led by the President and Chairman of Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Atako, met with the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike, to discuss capacity building collaboration.

During the courtesy visit, Dr. Atako, congratulated the Director General/Chief Executive Officer (NiMet), on his recent appointment last December by President Bola Tinubu, to lead the strategic agency of government which she described as befitting and deserving due to his well known pedigree of performance in his previous assignments that have prepared him adequately for the challenges ahead.

Apart from urging NiMet to pay up outstanding membership dues of staff members as a way of motivating the affected staff; Dr Atako enjoined the management to enlist the agency as a corporate member of the Institute; give the top management staff the opportunity to join the Institute’s membership through the Intensive Training for membership Admission (ITMA) programme; train the staff on “Work Ethics and Attitudinal Change”, and sponsor them to attend the 2024 Annual National Management Conference (ANMC) of the institute holding in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from 22nd to 24th September as well as nominate them to attend other human capital development programmes of the Institute.

Responding, the Director General of NiMet, Prof. Charles Anosike, who thanked the President for honouring him with the visit, which he described as very timely, expressed willingness to partner with the Institute in the area of capacity building, starting with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in place.

Acknowledging the benefits of capacity building and empowering the workforce for increased productivity and effective service delivery, Anosike alluded to the need to enhance work ethics and engender attitudinal change among the workforce.
