When it comes to Afro-fusion mastery, Niniola Apata is one artiste that knows her onions. In her latest release, a duet with the French Disc Jockey, DJ4rain, dubbed Disturb Phone, Niniola proves her mettle as one of the leading Afro-pop singers in her generation.

With notoriety for having an exceptional chemistry with foreign musicians, especially with her worldwide smash duet, Maggenta Riddim with DJ Snake, Niniola comes through on Disturb Phone with an easy-going, love-themed groove. She is assisted by DJ4Rain – the song’s owner – who serves a mash up of Afro-pop and Electronic Dance Music (EDM), as well as the South African Maverick KLY.

The duet yet again reflects the power of unity between African artistes, as KLY’s Afro-RnB/Pop-fusion delivery could easily be misattributed to Nigerian acts like Alpha P, or Rema, while Niniola has over time proved her Amapiano prowess.

In a chat with Weekend Beats, the French DJ explained that he enjoyed working with the acts on the song, as they brought his Afro-fusion to life.

“When we got in touch, we spoke about collaborating. Niniola brought exactly what I was expecting from her, which is the African vibe and her amazing flow. We also have KLY on the song and both of them did awesome. I was looking for the perfect combination of Afro-pop and EDM, and I am very happy with the results. I hope Africans will receive this song with love.”

DJ4Rain is a French-born, DJ and producer, with a refined pop, EDM and club-heavy appeal.

He is currently on a project to release one song per month which will unite countries, from Nigeria, to England, down to Puerto Rico, among others. Already, his last release dubbed, Kiss My Lips, featuring Ayo Jay and Atomic Otro Way has already begun to amass significant reception.
