NIS boss felicitates with Ewa over IOC recognition

The Director-General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Prof. Olawale Moronkola, has described the Director/Head of Coaching Department, Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Akwa Ibom State, Catherine Ewa, as a shining light of the country’s sports sector.

Speaking while congratulating the Olympian on her graduation from an IOC-programme held in conjunction with the International Judo Federation (IJF), under the acronym, WISH (Women in Sports High performance pathway),Moronkolu, described Ewa as a worthy ambassador of the country.

The 22-month long training, which comprised a one-week residential training in the University of Hertfordshire, UK, had on an online training for trainers, who are expected to pass their knowledge to their compatriots.

The IOC said the training is in line with its values of gender equality in sports and a great opportunity in creating a higher platform for female coaches all over the world, who are trained to become Olympics coaches. Coach Ewa represented Africa at the programme.
