The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has tasked the newly appointed Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, to be up and doing as there will be no excuse for non-performance. He gave the charge while decorating the CG with her new rank, saying non-performance would not be entertained.

Tunji-Ojo noted that the entire nation is looking up to her to perform and not ready to entertain any excuse.

“I believe in you, the president believes in you and has asked me to give you a presidential handshake, but know that to whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.

On her part, the new NIS CG promised policies that will discourage illegal migration, and foster bilateral relations and safeguard lives of Nigerians.

She said: “We are steadfast in our resolve to strengthen policies to prevent illegal migration, safeguard the lives of our citizens and foster positive bilateral relations.

“Tightening border security will be an objective to reduce the porosity of our borders and enhance overall national security.
“We will strive to implement revenue generation programmes to bolster the economy, contribute to our tax quota, and aid job creation. In addition, we will continue to integrate cutting-edge technology to modernise the Nigerian Immigration Service.”

She said that she will also prioritise the welfare of the officers and enhance the ease and efficiency of engagement between Nigerian citizens and the immigration service.

Nandap expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the minister for her new appointment. The Secretary of the Board, Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service, Ja’afaru Ahmed, encouraged the new immigration boss to show dedication, commitment and evolve efficiency strategies that will better position the NIS.
