Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, met with leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to strategise towards victory for the party in the forthcoming general elections.

The governor, according to a statement by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, spoke at the meeting in Benin City.

He said the country is at crossroads and urged party members to make necessary sacrifice and work tirelessly to ensure the party’s victory in the forthcoming elections to rescue the nation from socioeconomic challenges.

He said: “There is a clear and present danger facing Nigeria as a country but as a party, we have the instrument and tools to rescue Nigeria and correct the error and suffering the people of this nation face.

“The founding fathers of our party had designed the PDP as a core correction party that is always in the position to save the country. The PDP, in 1999, rescued Nigeria, which found itself in a similar situation.

“The PDP is the only organised party to save this country. PDP has the divine responsibility to rescue and recover Nigeria from bad leadership. We all should be ready to make sacrifices to reclaim our country.”

In his contribution, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, said: “Nigeria is in our own hands as PDP stands strategically to win this election. Edo needs to take its place in winning the election as it will create the chance to recognise the state.”
