FORMER Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has felicitated with students and pupils of different primary and secondary schools in the state as part of his 54th birthday activities.

Speaking at Holy Spirit Secondary School, Ebenebe, Obi said he was fulfilled celebrating with the young and future of the society, adding that they need as much inspiration as possible to aim towards greatness.

Obi, who also visited St. Anthony Secondary School, Ikenga, and Holy Child Nursery and Primary School, and donated N1 million to each as his birthday gift. He disclosed that his target is to cover 50 schools and expressed happiness to have got the money to cover 20 of them.

For the rest, he pleaded with those who believe in his cause to donate money towards his visit to those in the remote parts of the state for the continued improvement of their infrastructure.

Explaining why he did not throw a lavish party like others, Obi said he had no problem with those that choose to celebrate that way but “everybody has what makes him happy.

“To some, it is lavish celebrations, where champagnes would flow freely. For me, what gives me joy is the realisation that at any point, my actions contribute in the building of the society.

“I have target to give N1 million each to 50 schools in the state and elsewhere. I have got money for 20. The more money I get to assist these schools the happier I am.”

Meanwhile, Obi tasked the students on good behaviour and to take their studies seriously since “education remains the most potent currency for competition in the world.”
