ADC harps on sustaining democracy
Ohanaeze Ndigbo has shed light on critical matters impacting the unity and integrity of the country, noting that plots to remove President Bola Tinubu in 2027 have been unearthed.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralphs Nwosu, yesterday, said Nigerians needed to understand that there is no alternative to achieve potential than to ensure that democracy survives and functions by the rule of law.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation expressed its gratitude to Prof. Obasi Igwe, Dr Harford Ugwu, and Prof Nwankwo Nwaezeigwe for their unwavering courage in unveiling clandestine political machinations of a group known as Ohanaeze Reconciliation Committee.

Secretary General of the organisation, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, stated that the group had been unmasked for its ulterior motive to advance the 2027 vice presidential ambition of a South-East governor.

The statement reads: “The clandestine activities of this committee aim to align with the Igbo and Fulani leaders to position a South-East governor as the running mate to a Northern presidential candidate in the 2027 elections. This strategic move seeks to exploit Northern discontent with the Federal Government to oppose Tinubu in the 2027 election.”

NWOSU said the National Working Committee (NWC) of ADC would hold a summit, Kaduna 2024, with the theme ‘Solid Political Party Structure Critical to the Sustainability of the Democratic Process’ at Arewa House, Kaduna State, on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

He said: “The National Chairman of Accord Party, Muhammad Nalado, will chair the event, while the keynote will be delivered by the National Chairman of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Falalu Bello.

“The summit is part of ADC’s contribution to the sustenance of our democracy. The much-talked-about strong institutional requisites for democratic and political leadership begin with strong political parties. The political party is the foundation and sets the tone for the leadership to expect.”

According to him, ADC is drawing from experienced party leaders to give direction and begin afresh to set the template.

He added: “We believe all of us have a role to play to make sure that this democracy survives, and ADC, as one of the leading political parties in the country, is, as in our DNA, making it an inclusive affair.”

“We need a purposeful leadership in the country, and ADC has been in the forefront of transitioning and envisioning a clear pathway for the nation.”
