Olubadan-designate attends church service to rest case of incapability, ill-health

Oba Owolabi Olakulehin

The controversies surrounding the health status of Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, ended, yesterday, when he attended a religious function at St. Peter Cathedral Church, Aremo, in Ibadan North East Local Council of the state, amid friends, well-wishers and family members.

It was learnt that many of the worshippers prayed to God to grant the octogenarian a long life in good health and a stable mind to direct the affairs of Ibadan during his reign.

Oba Olakulehin made his second public appearance with the church attendance since he was nominated forthright ago.

His first appearance was during his nomination by the Olubadan-in-Council at Oja’ba Palace, Ibadan.

His son, Olasunbo, confirmed his father’s presence in the church, saying: “Baba was in the church today. Baba attended the service at St. Peter Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan.”

He also confirmed how his father received the Otun Iyalode of Ibadanland and others last week when they paid a courtesy visit to his palace.

Meanwhile, when the Oyo State government last week confirmed the receipt of Oba Olakulehin’s nomination letter as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, people were anxious that Governor Seyi Makinde would approve the nomination of the monarch pending when he would be properly installed.
