Police nab two suspected hoodlums in Imo, recover gun, other items

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested two suspected hoodlums, recovered one pump action gun and other items.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Michael Abattam, the suspects were arrested in an abandoned building in Amaukwu, Orodo, Mbaitoli Council.

The suspects are Uzoma Dike (42) and Chidi Osunwa (36) both natives of Amaukwu Orodo in Mbaitoli Council.


The Command said: “On combing the bush and searching the hoodlums’ hideout, the following exhibits were recovered: One Pump Action Gun with two live cartridges, 10 different makes of motorcycles, seven new motorcycles, 10 forged motorcycle particulars/receipts, 15 different makes of android phones, five wristwatches of different brand, One UBA ATM Card; some substance suspected to be illicit drugs, bunches of keys, N223, 600.00 and items used in smoking Mkpurumiri.”

MEANWHILE, the command has appealed communities in the state, to stop allowing criminals to use their areas as safe haven to commit crimes.

“Moreso, communities are advised to form vigilante groups/ neighbourhood watch association to compliment the efforts of the police and other security agencies. And any suspicious persons seen with bullet wounds should be reported to the nearest police station or call the command’s emergency numbers 08034773600 or 08098880197”, it said.
