Suspects

The tactical team of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police (CP), Benneth Igweh, has arrested 307 suspects during a raid at Gidan-Dambe, Dei-dei – Zuba, Abuja.

Police sources revealed that when the suspects were screened, 170 of them were indicted for criminal activities.

Spokesperson for the command, SP Josephine Adeh, who hinted newsmen of the raid, noted that 165 of the 170 suspects found wanting were promptly profiled by operatives and arraigned for misdemeanors at the Abuja Environmental Protection Board Mobile Court in Area 3, Garki District.

The remaining five of the 170 suspects, namely: Al zuma Aliyu, Mohammed Yakubu, Ishiaku Yakubu, Abubakar Lawal and Abba Mohammed were charged for felonious offences, such as armed robbery and peddling of illicit/hard drugs.

“The remaining 130 suspects not found guilty of any offence were released to reunite with their loved ones and warned to shun places where criminals hibernate. The Commissioner of Police affirmed his stance that this type of operation will be carried out regularly to cleanse the FCT of criminals and ensure the safety of all,” she added.

Recall that Igweh, a few nights ago, also ordered a raid on the den of suspected kidnappers and criminals in Abuja. The operation led to the arrest of hundreds of hoodlums at Gidan-Dambe in the Dei-Dei – Zuba axis.

While parading the suspects, the CP said during a search, one English pistol with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition was recovered from one Ibrahim Tukur, who claimed to be a staff of the Department of State Services.

Other items recovered included: motorcycles, wraps of marijuana, illicit substances, and valuables reasonably suspected to have been stolen from innocent residents.
