The Nigerian Navy Ship(NNS), Pathfinder, has nabbed 11 persons suspected to be involved in the construction of illegal refineries at Krakrama Creek in Degema Local Council of Rivers State.

The Navy, through its social media platform, disclosed that its personnel intercepted a boat conveying the materials used for the construction of the bunkering site on Wednesday, January 24 alongside the 11 suspects.

Recall The Guardian reported on July 12 2023 that the Navy uncovered tapped oil wellheads at two different locations in Oil Mining Lease(OML) 18 operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited(NNPCL).

The two locations where the uncovering of the oil sabotage happened are at Kala Ekweama in Asari-Toru Local Council and Krakama Creek in Degema Local Council and they all are under the Oil Field of OML 18.

However, the Navy said the 11 arrested suspects would be subjected to further investigation.

The post reads: “Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder at Rivers State intercepted a boat with 11 suspects conveying materials used for construction of  Illegal Refineries along Krakrama Axis of Rivers State on Wednesday 24 January 2024. The suspects were arrested for further investigations.”
