Rotary holds humanitarian reporting awards


Rotary International District 9110 will on Wednesday April 17, hold Humanitarian Reporting Awards (RHRA) 2023-2024 edition to recognise and reward journalists in Nigeria.


The award would be held between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00p.m. at Rotary Centre, No. 8 Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja, Lagos. According to Rotary International District 9110 District Governor, Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezi, the award is aimed at strengthening the partnership between Rotary and the media by recognising journalists and media organisations with outstanding record of reportage of their District and Clubs humanitarian intervention projects in the communities.

RHRA Committee Chairman and Assistant Governor, Ehi Braimah, who is the Publisher, Naija Times Online Newspaper, said 15 categories are to be given awards.

Braimah said the award categories include: Best Television station in the coverage of Rotary Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Best Radio Station in the coverage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Best newspaper in reportage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Best Newspaper in reportage of clubs and District 9110 Polio eradication activities; Best Online newspaper in reportage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities.


Others are Best Online TV station in reportage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Best Online Magazine in reportage of Clubs and D9110 activities; Best Outdoor in promoting humanitarian and Club activities; Best Male Celebrity Endorser promoting Polio eradication; Best Female Celebrity Endorser promoting Polio eradication and Most Outstanding Broadcast Journalist in reportage of Clubs and D9110 activities.

These would be followed by Most Outstanding Print Journalist in reportage of Clubs and D9110 activities; Best Television Station in the coverage of Clubs and RI D9110 activities; Most Outstanding Public Image Director with media reportage of humanitarian stories and Overall Best Rotary Club in humanitarian reporting.

Vice chairman, RHRA Committee, Olalekan Otun, said the Provost, Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Mr Gbenga Adefaye will deliver the keynote address, while Chairman Channels Media Group, Dr John Momoh, will be the Special Guest of honour and the Past District Governor, Prince Julius Adelusi Adeluyi.

who is a former Minister of Health as well as the former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, who will chair the occasion. He added that over 140 Rotary clubs and 14,000 Rotarians participated in nominating entries for the awards.
