Saraki gives scholarships to children of late deputy bursar

Bukola Saraki

Former governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki, has awarded scholarships to two children of the late deputy bursar of Kwara State University (KWASU), Abdullahi Olaitan, who died last Wednesday while watching the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.

Olaitan, while watching the match at a viewing centre in Ilorin, suddenly complained of health complications and was taken home where he was later taken to a private hospital in the neighbourhood.

It was the hospital that later referred him to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where he was confirmed dead on arrival of High Blood Pressure (HBP).

A statement by Saraki’s Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, noted that Saraki disclosed his scholarship awards to the children last Saturday at the prayer organised for their father at his residence in Ilorin.

Ishola Fulani, who led Saraki’s delegation to the gathering, condoled with the bereaved family, charging the members to bear the loss as the will of Allah.

Saraki, who expressed sympathy over the unfortunate incident, pledged to be of support to the family by awarding scholarships to two children of the deceased.

The Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin prayed Allah to grant the late Abdulahi Aljannah Firdaus, and the family, the fortitude to bear the loss.
