Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Saleh, led the prayer at Borno Central Eid ground, Ramat Square. In his sermon, Saleh enjoined the Muslim faithful to continue with the virtues imbibed during the 30-day Ramadan fast.

The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar El-Kanemi, led members of the Borno Emirates Council to the prayer ground. Other dignitaries in attendance include Senator Kaka Lawan (Borno Central), House of Representatives members, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bukar Tijani; Head of Service (HoS), Mallam Fannami, among other top officials and party executives.

MEANWHILE, Zulum has called on citizens of the state to intensify prayers for the total restoration of peace in Borno and other parts of the country.
“Glory be to Almighty Allah for allowing us to witness this year’s Eid festival. I urge the people of Borno to intensify prayers for peace to reign in the state and the country.

“I also want to urge the people of Borno to be law-abiding and patient with the government. We are doing everything possible to reduce the hardship faced by our people,” Zulum stated.

The governor noted that while the emergency gas plant experienced some engineering faults, both the state and federal governments were working on how to exploit the hydroelectric sources to provide electricity to Maiduguri. He added: “I am aware Borno has been witnessing blackouts due to the vandalism of the electricity transmission towers along Maiduguri/Damaturu highway.

“As a result, the people of Maiduguri Metropolis and environs have been witnessing water shortage.”
ON his part, El-Kanemi organised a durbar procession to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr festival.

The Dubar, a traditional horse festival, was observed in Borno with traditional title holders mounting horses in a parade.  Shettima and Zulum, accompanied by other senior government officials, attended the festival.

KWARA State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was conspicuously missing at the Central Yiddi Praying Ground in Ilorin, yesterday, when Muslim faithful in the state capital converged for special Ramadan prayers.

It was rare for any governor in the state, especially those practising Islam, to skip such a yearly event. But Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdulkadir Aliyu, was at the programme.

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, was also not at the event. But the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, was at yesterday’s peaceful event.
KOGI State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has enjoined the people of the state to work together to ensure peaceful coexistence among diverse interests.

In his Eid-el-Fitr message, yesterday, to the citizens, the Kogi governor restated his commitment to the security of lives and property. He called on those fanning the embers of discord to desist from their unpatriotic tendencies, stressing his administration’s unwavering resolve to deal with the recent upsurge of insecurity in parts of the state.
