Twitter user, Chude Nnamdi who was arrested by the police for cyberstalking is expected to be released from detention today, according to Omoyele Sowore.

“#FreeChude: We traveled round Police departments and units today in search of Chude Nnamdi in Abuja. We finally found him at the FCIID cell in Abuja,” Sowore tweeted on Friday.
“I also spoke to his case officers from the Cybercrime unit at the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in Abuja. It is heartwarming that Chude is positively in high spirits.
“His lawyers have processed his release paperwork and he’s expected to be released today from Police detention.
“It is a high profile conspiracy with the usual suspects involved at all levels to silence the young man! #Revolutionnow.”
Chude tweeted on Saturday that the Anambra governor’s political party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was involved in the rigging of the House of Assembly election.
He claimed that governor Chukwuma Soludo was instrumental in the rigging, adding that some thugs carted away ballot boxes.
The police spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said Nnamdi was being investigated by the Nigerian Police Force National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja.
Adejobi stated that Nnamdi was being investigated for cyberstalking in response to a complaint received via a petition about his actions on social media, which violate Nigeria’s constitutional provisions.
“He is being investigated by the Nigeria Police Force National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja for cyberstalking pursuant to a complaint received via a petition about his activities on social media, which contravenes the provision of Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, and other criminal laws,” Adejobi said.
He added that a case had been established against Nnamdi and that the case file had been forwarded to the Force Legal Department for further action.
The police urged members of the public to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the law and be aware of the penalties for violating them, most especially cybercrime laws with the new trends in the digital media space.
