Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, yesterday, visited the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he sought President Bola Tinubu’s support towards completion of the moribund Ibom Deep Sea Port and oil palm projects in the state.
Fielding questions from newsmen, Eno described Tinubu as a businessman; hence, his decision to revert to the shrewd business disposition of the President to ensure the completion of the projects.
He said: “The President is a businessman. You know when governors come to see him, this is the seat of government, you have one or two things to talk about. We need the support of the Federal government.”
Specifically, he said his administration has started the process of revamping the moribund industry, which has been abandoned for 28 years but currently being revamped by the authorities.
Eno added: “We need the support of the Federal Government to have a full value chain, and then bring people to work to help Nigeria.
“We can even get to exporting palm oil, because right now, we’re still importing a lot of it.”
“We need to partner with the Federal Government to get work going in the state. Akwa Ibom is part of Nigeria. He is the President of Nigeria; he needs to know how one of his component states is doing.
