Recently, London hosted the 10th Annual Women4Africa Awards, especially recognizing mothers for their indelible impacts, contributions, and achievements. It also was an opportunity to appreciate and applaud the power, influence, and achievements of African women all over the globe.
The two-day event began with an Empowerment Conference featuring inspiring speeches from global business leaders with extensive experience spanning Europe, Asia, America, and Africa. Some of these eggheads include Caroline Rushingwa, Dr Jennifer Obaseki, Adeola Onasanya, Vanusa Antonio, Femmy Otukoya, and Lara Oyesanya.
The grand finale was Awards and Gala Night which took place at the prestigious Leonardo Hotel in St. Paul’s, located in the heart of the City of London. The evening honored 10 distinguished awardees and included two surprise recipients. A true celebration of “12 wonders,” with 12 remarkable women being awarded and hundreds of attendees left in awe of the vision, passion, and excellence that marked the evening.
The founders of Women4Africa, Sam and Tola Onigbanjo, shared their strong dedication to serving the community, emphasizing the importance of Africans telling their own stories. The 10th Annual Women4Africa Awards not only showcased the remarkable accomplishments of African women but also fostered a spirit of unity, empowerment, and celebration that will have a lasting impact.
The honorees included Ify Adenuga, a bestselling author recognized by The Guardian (UK) and mother of four talented children, including music star Skepta. Lara Oyesanya, a mother of four Oxbridge graduates and the only woman on the board of a £5 billion FTSE company in the City of London was also among the honorees. Abigail Owuo, a mother of five, including Grime artist Stormzy, were also honored. Chartered Scientist Bamidele Farinre, Marion Van de Voort, and Vanessa Amadi, manager of Tiwa Savage, were also recognized. Additional honored guests included Dr. Fikelepe Jackson, Adebola Aroboto, Yemisi Jenkins MBE, Georgina Ajayi-Obe Ayoola, Flori Odeyemi, Princess Yetunde Odusanya, and Sharon Betha.
