Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has commissioned 582 two-bedroom apartments to resettle 1,945 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) households in Auno community.

The resettled IDPs lived for seven years at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Mohammed Goni College of Legal and Islamic Studies (MOGOLIS) camps, which the governor had declared closed.

Zulum said the closure of the camps and the resettlement were the government’s drive towards safe and dignified resettlement of IDPs across the state.

The Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (MRRR) built the houses on Zulum’s approval. The resettlement committee was co-chaired by the Commissioner for RRR, Mustapha Gubio.

The Special Adviser and Sustainable Development, Partnerships and Humanitarian Support, Dr. Mairo Mandara, supervised the allocation of the houses.
